Introduce your participants to different types of seeds, learn about how seeds work, start your seeds. 

APRIL: WORMS

What is a worm and how does it help the soil?

Introduce your students to worms, learn worm anatomy, search for worms in everyday surroundings. We asked a local nature expert to come and help us learn more about these amazing creatures. 

MAY: WATER

How can we transport water into the soil?

Engineer watering systems to help get vital moisture to roots in your garden, test it out. Transplant your plants into the garden. 

JUNE: COMPOST

Introduce decomposers and why they matter. 

Make worm houses for observation of worms. Explain why worms make the garden healthy. 

JULY: BUGS

What does a bug look like?

Explore the components of a bug and where and how you might find bugs in your garden. What does a bug tell you about the health of your garden?

AUGUST: HARVEST

Enjoy the foods that you have grown.

As the summer comes to an end teach kids to harvest and prepare the food from the garden, donate excess foods to a local food bank and harvest seeds in order to grow heirloom plants next year.
