HOW TO START A
CHILDREN'S GARDEN CLUB
PLAN
*Build a Bug- Provide supplies for participants to make a bug of their choosing or assign bugs for them to make. Use play dough, pipe cleaners etc.
*Pollen Demonstration- Put starbursts or other candy in a bowl and cover with paper. Cut an opening in the paper so that each child has to reach through it to get the candy. Dust the paper with corn starch or other powder. As they reach through the paper they will get powder on their hands. Talk about how this is how bees transport pollen in a garden.
*Bug BINGO- Print a BINGO card for each participant with images of bugs in each square. See Who can get BINGO first by crossing off each bug they find in the garden.
*Work in the Garden- Assign jobs and spend time working in the garden. Don't forget to continue tracking data about the garden.
